Alterations and repairs terms
How garment assessment, fittings, estimates, fragile items and agreed alteration work are handled.
Online information is preliminary
An online enquiry, description or photograph can support an initial discussion, but it cannot confirm a garment’s construction, condition, fit or suitability for alteration. Any early estimate is preliminary.
Kymmy may need to inspect the garment and see it worn at a fitting before confirming the work, final quote and expected timeframe. The quote may change if the garment differs from the information provided.
Tell Kymmy about the garment
Please disclose known:
- stains, holes, worn areas or fragile fabric;
- beading, sequins, lace, boning, lining or delicate details;
- previous repairs or alterations;
- unusual coatings, treatments or care requirements;
- high monetary or sentimental value; and
- event dates or other firm timing requirements.
Existing damage may extend beyond what is visible. Kymmy may decline work that is unsuitable, unsafe, likely to cause unreasonable damage or outside her current capabilities.
Fittings and changes
Bring the shoes, undergarments and accessories that affect the garment’s fit or length, and attend agreed fittings where required. Explain the intended use and any comfort or movement concerns.
Changes requested after pinning, cutting or sewing begins may require extra work, affect the timeframe or be impossible. Additional work will proceed only after any revised scope and quote are agreed.
Results and limitations
Alterations work with the material and construction already present. Seam allowance, fabric marks, needle holes, fading, previous work, pattern shape and decorative details can limit the result. A photograph or inspiration image cannot guarantee that another garment can be changed in the same way.
The quote will describe the intended result, but no alteration can promise a perfect fit or exact replica.
Timing, payment and collection
Urgent work is subject to assessment and availability. An event date does not guarantee acceptance or completion. Timing begins once the garment, scope, quote and any required payment steps are agreed.
The accepted quote or written terms will confirm payment, notification and collection arrangements for the job.
Valuable or sentimental garments
Highly valuable, irreplaceable or sentimental garments require special discussion before acceptance. Known risks and the suitability of the proposed work must be agreed before work begins.
Consumer rights and concerns
Nothing in these terms excludes rights under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. If you have a concern about completed work, use the contact page promptly so the garment and agreed scope can be reviewed.
